The surface water vapour diffusion coefficient values in dessicators can be identified from the
exponential curve of a sorption in time. Long sorption times are given by the surface water
vapour diffusion coefficients smaller than in laboratory free convection conditions. Their values
are equal or lower than 1.10 ‐5 m.s ‐1 .
The dynamics of water vapour sorption process in a vacuum dessicator can be evalueated by
the time constants of the process. The most frequent values lie in the interval 0 – 30 hours.
Higher values are typical for gypsum and wooden materials.
