h<strong>and</strong>s, eternal in <strong>the</strong> heavens ; f<strong>or</strong> <strong>the</strong> old philosophy<br />

(Kabalah) teaches that <strong>the</strong> Imm<strong>or</strong>tal Spirit <strong>of</strong> man<br />

is <strong>the</strong> artificer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body <strong>and</strong> its source <strong>of</strong> Ufe;<br />

that it does not so much enter in, as overshadow<br />

man, while <strong>the</strong> Soul, <strong>the</strong> immediate vehicle <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Spirit, inhabits <strong>the</strong> body, <strong>and</strong> is dissipated at death.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Spirit is Imm<strong>or</strong>tal, pure, <strong>and</strong> f<strong>or</strong>ever undefiled.<br />

It is Christos, <strong>or</strong> Hiram, <strong>the</strong> Mediat<strong>or</strong> between <strong>the</strong><br />

Soul, <strong>or</strong> physical man, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Universal Spirit—<br />

<strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r in Heaven. <strong>The</strong> "po<strong>or</strong>, blind c<strong>and</strong>idate,"<br />

that is, <strong>the</strong> man <strong>of</strong> sense, immersed in matter, would<br />
