To syn<strong>the</strong>size all <strong>the</strong>se movements in one w<strong>or</strong>d we<br />

have Fohat as <strong>the</strong> agent ; <strong>and</strong> Vibration as <strong>the</strong> manifestation.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Master who knows <strong>the</strong> pitch, quality<br />

<strong>and</strong> amphtude <strong>of</strong> this first vibration, who can<br />

produce this first septenary <strong>of</strong> sound, col<strong>or</strong>, <strong>and</strong><br />

f<strong>or</strong>m, can by so doing raise his Consciousness to<br />

that first <strong>or</strong> seventh (acc<strong>or</strong>ding as we count from<br />

above downward <strong>or</strong> <strong>the</strong> reverse) plane. Such a one<br />

knows how to pronounce <strong>the</strong> Ineffable Name. It is<br />

not only a matter <strong>of</strong> pure science, dealing with laws<br />

<strong>of</strong> rhythm; a fact, <strong>and</strong> not a tradition <strong>or</strong> a sentiment,<br />

but it implies absolute At-One-Ment in knowledge<br />

<strong>and</strong> power between all that goes to make up<br />

what we call man <strong>and</strong> all that we call Nature. It<br />

is <strong>the</strong> consummation <strong>of</strong> human evolution. Hence<br />

said <strong>the</strong> Christ: "It is finished." In giving himself<br />

to <strong>the</strong> w<strong>or</strong>ld <strong>the</strong> perfect at-one-ment was attained.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> ethical sense, that is, on <strong>the</strong> plane <strong>of</strong> relations<br />

<strong>of</strong> man to man, <strong>the</strong> W<strong>or</strong>d is Renunciation, <strong>or</strong><br />

self-sacrifice. In <strong>the</strong> Hindoo tradition regarding<br />

<strong>the</strong> Master's W<strong>or</strong>d <strong>the</strong>re are seven ways <strong>of</strong> pronouncing<br />

it, each involving a different potency <strong>and</strong><br />

a different result. <strong>The</strong> Voice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Silence says<br />

"Bef<strong>or</strong>e thou set'st thy foot upon <strong>the</strong> ladder's upper<br />

rung, <strong>the</strong> ladder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mystic sounds, thou hast
