12 volcanics to the north of the fault are Stoughton-Roquemaure Group rocks while the felsic volcanic rocks to the south of the fault are Hunter Hine Group rocks (Jensen L.S.-1983-OGS Map P.2433: Lightning River Area). The strike of the rocks on the property is 120 degrees and dipping steeply north.
13 5.0 MINERALIZATION 5.1 Regional Mineralization Gold deposits in the Harker-Holloway are associated with the following geological environment: 1) The Lightning Zone gold deposit occurs along the Destor- Porcupine Fault Zone at the contact between mafic and ultramafic volcanics. The host for the zone is a strongly altered and mineralized variolitic basalt. The zone is generally conformable to the local stratigraphy/ which strikes east-west and dips south at 65-70 degrees. The zone rakes to the east and tops at 250m below surface. Mineralization in the Lightning Zone is primarily pyrite which varies in content from 2-15% / averaging 5-8* in areas with greater than 5 g/t Au. Concentrations of fine K2mm) pyrite vary in proportion with gold grades. Coarse pyrite which is barren is found along with trace amounts of chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite. Alteration is a pale-green to honey colored quartzanker ite-sericite assemblage which occurs intermittently throughout the mafic volcanics. The Lightning Zone itself is is a medium to grey in color generally lacks foliation and consists of a guartz-albite-pyrite assemblage. Original primary features such as pillow magins, flow contacts, and variolites are commonly preserved in the Lightning Zone and in the surrounding rocks. The zone has a strike length of at least 780 metres and is open down dip and to the east (John Wakeford and lan Atkinson, PDAC-1991).
