14 2) The MeDermott gold deposit Is located along the McKenna Fault. The Mattawasaga gold deposit is located along the Ghostmont Fault. These are splay faults striking southwest off the Destor-Porcupine Fault. These faults occur long the contact between iron-rich and magnesium-rich tholiitic basalts with possible interflow sediments. The mineralization consists of finely disseminated pyrite which is directly proportional to the grade of gold. Gold is rarely visible occuring almost entirely within finely disseminated pyrite. Alteration consists of very strongly silicified and to a lesser extent carbonatized basalt. The average thickness of the Mattawasaga deposit ranges from 30- 80 feet. 5.2 Property Mineralization Alteration zones consisting of strongly silicified and carbonatized zones over widths of 17-22m along the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault. This fault is located along the contact between felsic volcanics to the south and mafic volcanics to the north. Hole No. LR-87-1 on section 8 East encountered anomalous gold values of 73 ppb Au over 3.99 m within a silicified and carbonatized zone from 228.78m to 250.91m over a width of 22.13 m on the footwall of the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault. The best assay is 189 ppb Au over 0.91 m.
15 The alteration zone Is within a highly fractured and brecciated zone with less than l* pyrite. Hole No. LR-87-5 on section 15 East intersected alteration zones consisting of strongly silicified and carbonatized basalt within strongly fractured and brecciated zones along the North Branch of the Destor-Porcupine Fault. These zones of alteration occur over widths ranging up to 17m but the gold values are very low.
