chips, washed down with tea. Finally, after wiping his lips on<br />

a towel, Daryl got up and went outside. The Volvo truck was<br />

parked in the yard. Daryl clambered into the driver‟s seat<br />

and David got in beside him. He eyed the expensive upholstery.<br />

„It‟s a great rig you‟ve got here, Daryl.‟<br />

„Yeah,‟ Daryl reached for the ignition. „It cost a heap but<br />

you‟ve got to spend to stay in business these days.‟<br />

True to form, Daryl was talking garbage. The vehicle did-<br />

n‟t belong to him. It belonged to the people he was working<br />

for and it hadn‟t been bought for catching fish. David winced<br />

as Daryl pulled off in third gear. The man was incompetent<br />

beyond belief. He squeezed the truck through a gap in the<br />

fence, scraping the expensive bodywork, and headed towards<br />

the beach in the wrong gear and without the slightest<br />

regard for the rough terrain.<br />
