She was interrupted by the arrival of the Volvo truck. Its<br />

headlights appeared through the window as it sped towards<br />

them down the dirt track. Janet snuffed out the candles and<br />

produced a gun. David was surprised to see that Humphrey<br />

was also armed. They made for opposite corners of the build-<br />

ing. Noelene removed the safety catch on her rifle and took<br />

up a firing position beside the door.<br />

To David‟s relief, the Volvo sped past.<br />

„He‟s heading for the airstrip. There‟s a plane coming in. I<br />

saw its lights. It could be another delivery. We‟d better get<br />
