Zircon, muscovite, and tourmaline have been identified as accessory minerals. Glauconite is present in a seelion along the south shore of the POri :11.1 Port Peninsula (appendix I, location map I). The grains are rounded, cryptocrystai1int=. and are associated \-lith small opaque iron oxide particles which have grown both within the glauconite grains and surrocnd.ing them. Chemically, the Uawkc's Bay Formalion is silica rich and shows chemical characteristics of having bttn dt:positcd in a passi\·c margin (figures 6.1 and 6.2).
