1. Black Point<br />

Grid Reference: NTS 128/10 UD 756846.<br />

This cliff-like coastal section is approximately 120 m thick and comains ~J(cel1enl<br />

examples of LHI facies {conglomerates and very coarse sandstonesl. with mUltiple<br />

spectacular amalgamation surfaces.<br />

2. Ponland Hill<br />

Grid Reference: NTS 12H/13 VF 552548.<br />

This prominent hill. althoogh exposure is poor, appears to contain a very thick section<br />

(?4SO m) of facies LHI, and may possibly represer.t a narrow, deep channel fill. The<br />

lithology is pebble to cobble conglomerate. with clasts dominated by fine grainetl<br />

limestone and calcarenite.<br />

3. PonlandCreek<br />

Grid Reference: NTS 211f4 VF 559568<br />

This is a low lying coastal exposure, which is only tllposcd allow lide. It is snuclurally<br />

more complex than many Lower H~ad seclions, and the top and bi5e of lhe unit are: not<br />

exposed. However a minimum of 300 m of seelion is exposed. Facies presenl indude<br />

lhick. pack.ages of LH6 mudstone interbedded with lH2 medium to very thick-bc:duttl<br />

sandstone. An olistostrome is exposed neat the lOP of lhe exposed scclion. The: LH2<br />

facies near the top of the exposed section contain granule laye~ similar te dasts in the<br />

Ponland Hill conglomerate.
