3. Resolution SARRE and others on the death sentence of
James OavId MANGE
By a large majority, tne Group agreed to support the chairman's
proposal, whereby, after agreement had been found among the
political groups, the President of Parliament would send a sharp
telegram of protest to the South African Ambassador to the E.C.,
after which the ensuing action would be closely followed.
4. WEBER Report on radioactive waste
On a proposal from ROGERS, and after consultation with the
Pxesident of parliament, it was agreed that only those explanatiol
of vote which had already been announced during the last session
would be allowed during this one. Afterwards, the rapporteur and
the committee chairman would make statements.
5. FUCHS Report on Energy Objectives in the Community for 1990
Discussion and voting on the Group amendments took place. After _".
considerable discussion, the Group agreed, by 44 votes to 12, with

4 abstentions, to an amendment by van den HEUVEL, to amend the
last sentence of Amendment 1 as follows :
"No further nuclear energy plants should be bui!t, as long as the
problems of safety. and radioactive waste disposal are not solved,
and until such time as a clear majOrity of public opinion is in
favour".
Amendments Nos. 3 and 5 would be modified in accordance with this
basic political position.
6. Next Group meeting: Tuesday, 12th February 1980/ at 7.00 p.m.
