January 2008 Public Patches 3.1.2 Gesture Service 3.1.2.1 2D Gesture Service Provider INRIA/LORIA Introduction The package comprises two services: a service which displays a scene on a tactile screen and captures any gesture drawn on it with a special pencil (GestureCapture) and a service which interprets the gesture (GestureInterpreter). The two services work with MultiModal Interface Language representations (MMIL). The scene, encoded in MMIL, is a set of objects with different states represented visually by images and masks. Any gesture drawn on the screen could lead to a MMIL event sent by the GestureCapture service to the GestureInterpreter service. The content of the event is the set of all the selected objects in the scene, associated to salience measures. The GestureCapture service also handles ways to modify the scene by adding objects, changing their aspect, or their states.
