Sliding puck pulled by siring at right angles to ils direction <strong>of</strong> motion changes direc<br />
tion but not speed. String is fastened lo puck by a rubber ring, which stretches when<br />
force is applied. Top photograph shows an abrupt change in direction caused by a<br />
brief pull on the siring. Photograph below shows circular motion with a conslanl<br />
deflecting force (constant distorlion <strong>of</strong> the rubber ring). Flashes were at one-second<br />
