Language Barrier in Rice Trade with the Arab World<br />

When asked if Arabic language has become a necessity<br />

for establishing linkages with the Arab world in international<br />

trade, most <strong>of</strong> the exporters i.e. 64% were <strong>of</strong> the opinion that<br />

Arabic is not a necessity and linkages are and can be established<br />

without it. However, 36% <strong>of</strong> the exporters did believe that Arabic<br />

plays a vital role in establishing international trade relations with<br />

the Arab world.<br />

The exporters know that by learning Arabic it would be<br />

helpful for them to understand the culture which in turn would<br />

help them understand the eating habits <strong>of</strong> the Arab world. This<br />

would help them do better business in the Arab world. 56% <strong>of</strong><br />

the exporters were <strong>of</strong> the opinion that knowing the Arabic<br />

language will help them understand the Arab culture and do<br />

better business with the Arab world.<br />
