Statewide<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> High School Coaches Association;<br />

have at least a 3.0 GPA in the 16 high school<br />

core classes through the first semester of the<br />

senior year and at least a 22 ACT/900 SAT<br />

composite score; plan to major in education;<br />

and submit 4 copies of high school transcript,<br />

first-semester of senior year report card, list<br />

of extracurricular activities, copy of ACT/<br />

SAT scores, a letter of recommendation from<br />

high school principal or counselor, a letter of<br />

recommendation from a teacher, a 200-word<br />

type-written essay on why student wants to<br />

enter the field of education and application<br />

at www.khsca.org. A student who receives<br />

a full academic or athletic scholarship as a<br />

college freshman is not eligible.<br />

John Crabb Memorial Scholarship<br />

Eligibility: Must be a resident of a lowrent<br />

public housing program managed by<br />

a public housing authority or Section 8<br />

Program; be a high school senior; meet<br />

income requirements as defined by HUD<br />

for housing; and be sponsored by an<br />

active member of the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Housing<br />

Association.<br />

Award: $20,000 - 4 year scholarship given<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> Large/Food Animal<br />

Veterinary Incentive Program<br />

Eligibility: Must have a degree in veterinary<br />

medicine from an accredited college<br />

or university or have completed an accredited<br />

2-year veterinary technician or 4-year<br />

technologist program, apply for this incentive<br />

program within the first or second year<br />

of practice post-graduation, be accredited<br />

by the USDA-APHIS to perform veterinary<br />

medical tasks in <strong>Kentucky</strong> (may apply<br />

while working toward accreditation), work<br />

in a practice that devotes at least 50% of its<br />

time to large/food animals, and have a current<br />

outstanding balance on a student loan<br />

through a lending institution (loans from<br />

relatives or friends do not apply). Preference<br />

given to a <strong>Kentucky</strong> resident working<br />

in an area of defined need.<br />

Award: Forgives up to $6,000 per year of<br />

outstanding student loans<br />

Memorial Foundation Scholarship<br />

Eligibility: Must be a current, retired, or<br />

disabled <strong>Kentucky</strong> sworn police officer<br />

or telecommunicator or a survivor or<br />

dependent of the same and be accepted<br />

into an accredited college or university<br />

or a recognized vocational or trade<br />

school before the scholarship funds are<br />

awarded. Dependent family members,<br />

including surviving spouses, of officers or<br />

telecommunicators killed in the line of duty<br />

will be given highest priority.<br />

requirements for scholarship consideration<br />

educational and/or religious leaders who<br />

are not family members, and a recent<br />

photo. Based on financial need, academic<br />

leadership qualities.<br />

Eligibility: Must be a <strong>Kentucky</strong> high<br />

and plan to pursue a degree in education.<br />

Consideration given to financial need,<br />

academic achievement, personal remarks,<br />

career plans, and involvement in school and<br />

community service.<br />
