Alarm Association Scholarship<br />

Eligibility: Must be 15 to 20 years old;<br />

be a graduating high school senior who<br />

will receive a diploma from an accredited<br />

high school; be accepted for admission<br />

to an accredited college or university,<br />

matriculating the following year; have a<br />

parent or guardian who is a full-time active<br />

employee in the state where the student<br />

applies, a full-time paid member of the police<br />

or sheriff’s department or fire department, a<br />

volunteer member of a fire department, or<br />

a full-time public safety officer; and submit<br />

a completed and signed application, essay<br />

(typed), official high school transcript, proof<br />

of acceptance to a college or university,<br />

proof of parent’s or guardian’s occupation,<br />

copies of SAT/ACT results, résumé<br />

(listing academic prizes, awards, hobbies,<br />

extracurricular activities and work history),<br />

and letters of recommendation from a high<br />

school counselor, teacher or other outside<br />

agency which verifies participation in<br />

extracurricular activities and speaks of the<br />

student’s character.<br />

leadership in promoting equality, fairness,<br />

acceptance, and justice among diverse<br />

people; complete an application; and<br />

submit an essay. Interview in Lexington and<br />

attendance at awards ceremony required.<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> Council on Crime and<br />

Delinquency Inc. Scholarship<br />

Eligibility: Must be a member of the<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> Council on Crime and Delinquency<br />

or a member’s immediate family. Priority<br />

given to those eligible parties without other<br />

means of assistance (i.e., scholarships,<br />

tuition assistance). Also based on GPA.<br />

Award: Varies; failure to complete the<br />

semester satisfactorily will result in the<br />

recipient being required to repay KCCD<br />

Inc. the full amount awarded. Satisfactory<br />

completion means an overall GPA of 2.0 for<br />

each semester. A copy of the transcript for<br />

the time period the recipient has received this<br />

award must be forwarded to KCCD Inc. no<br />

later than 30 days following the semester.<br />

Eligibility: Must attend Eastern <strong>Kentucky</strong><br />

University, Lindsey Wilson College,<br />

University of Louisville, Morehead State<br />

University, Murray State University,<br />

Northern <strong>Kentucky</strong> University, Western<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> University or Xavier University;<br />

submit documentation of acceptance by<br />

the participating university and a letter of<br />

recommendation; and plan to become a<br />

school or mental health counselor. Preference<br />

given to a beginning master’s student who<br />

has earned less than 15 hours.<br />
