Funeral Directors Association<br />

of <strong>Kentucky</strong> Scholarship/Loan<br />

Eligibility: Must be a high school graduate<br />

or hold a GED; be a <strong>Kentucky</strong> resident for<br />

at least the last 2 immediately preceding<br />

years; and agree to fulfill obligations of the<br />

scholarship.<br />

Obligation: Must agree to return to <strong>Kentucky</strong><br />

and work for at least 2 years following<br />

licensure as a funeral director/embalmer,<br />

agree to repay the award if this requirement<br />

is not met, and agree to repay any and all<br />

awards in the event withdrawal from school<br />

occurs for any reason.<br />

Award: Varies; applicant will receive<br />

financial assistance from the Scholarship<br />

Committee at the beginning of the third<br />

quarter (semester) of school.<br />

Eligibility: Must be a high school student<br />

who intends to major in education and<br />

is a member of FEA, be the child or<br />

grandchild of a Phi Delta Kappa member<br />

who intends to major in education, or be<br />

a student recommended by a Phi Delta<br />

Kappa member or chapter; submit 2 letters<br />

of recommendation, official transcripts<br />

and narratives describing philosophy of<br />

education; have at least a 2.5 GPA; and<br />

respond to a survey of questions related to<br />

education.<br />

or university in <strong>Kentucky</strong>, be active in<br />

community service and/or school activities<br />

and/or employment, have at least a 3.0<br />

cumulative GPA and a 25 ACT score, and<br />

submit an essay (double-spaced, no more<br />

than 500 words) about professional plans<br />

and 2 letters of recommendation, 1 from a<br />

teacher and 1 from a professional outside<br />

the school system.<br />
