Eligibility: Must be a college junior,<br />

senior, post-baccalaureate student or MAT<br />

candidate in a teacher education program<br />

at an accredited <strong>Kentucky</strong> college or<br />

university; be a member of the KEA Student<br />

Program; plan to teach in <strong>Kentucky</strong>; and<br />

submit a letter from the college the student is<br />

attending verifying enrollment in a program<br />

leading to a <strong>Kentucky</strong> teaching certificate<br />

and that the student has at least a 3.0 GPA<br />

and the number of credit hours the student<br />

has completed, a current résumé, 2 letters<br />

of reference, and an essay no more than 650<br />

words explaining why the student wants to<br />

be teacher and articulating a philosophy<br />

of teaching. Preference given to a student<br />

who has been an outstanding leader in the<br />

KEA Student Program, has an outstanding<br />

record of academic achievement, and<br />

demonstrates financial need. In exceptional<br />

cases, leadership in the community may<br />

be considered in place of leadership in the<br />

association.<br />

<strong>Kentucky</strong> college, be a <strong>Kentucky</strong> high school<br />

graduate or GED holder, and have been a<br />

member of <strong>Kentucky</strong> Farm Bureau for at<br />

least 2 years before applying for award.<br />

Must retain membership for the duration of<br />

the scholarship.<br />

Award: Up to $3,000, $250 per semester (not<br />

to exceed 3 per year) for up to 12 semesters.<br />
