SIEMON AUTOMATION ON MAX MODULES
When the Siemon Company
began development of category
6 components in 1998, there
was never a doubt that these
outlets would represent the
future of structured cabling
and would be very much in
demand.
With this in mind, it was
clear that a new type of manufacturing process would be
needed to keep up with the customer requests that would
inevitably follow. Additionally, the quality of the product, which
is the cornerstone of success for all Siemon products, could not
be compromised for the sake of quantity.
To accomplish this, Siemon manufacturing threw away
the rulebook and began development of state-of-the-art
production equipment. The result is the largest, most
sophisticated automated machines ever deployed in the 98-year
history of the Siemon Company. These machines are marvels of
modern machinery. At an average of approximately 24 ft. long
x 8 ft. wide x 8 ft. high each, they are truly a sight to behold.
MAX automation equipment performs the following functions:
• Bends wire conductors into contact holder and attaches
outer housing
• Inserts insulation displacement contacts (IDCs) into S310
blocks and attaches color-coding label
• Solders conductor housing to PCB board and press fits to
S310 assembly
Quality checks done along the way include:
• Check contact holder for crossed or missing wires
• Check S310 blocks for presence of all 8 IDCs
• Check S310 blocks for presence and polarity of colorcoding
label
• Tests for continuity of final, assembled component
The end result is that customers get the products they need,
in the time they need them with the quality they’ve come to
expect from Siemon.
