Plans After High School:
I plan to study English at Texas A&M University
or the University of Arizona.
Distinguished Educator:
Kristi Brockman, Retired
Klein Forest High School
“My first contact with Mrs. Brockman was an email, sent while I was in eighth grade. I was interested in
both her Creative Writing class and the school anthology, Aquilae Stilus. I thought they looked like fun,
and I wanted to be involved. So Mrs. Brockman was one of the first teachers at Klein Forest that I met.
I joined Aquilae-I took Creative Writing, during sophomore year-and I learned that Mrs. Brockman was
more than a teacher. She was a Muse, the Literary Goddess. Her enthusiasm and creativity brought the
class to life. Her approach was less to tell us how to write than to inspire us to write, which made Creative
Writing-with its music, art, and first-day trust exercise-a unique and favored course. Even outside of class,
Mrs. Brockman proved to be awesome; for instance, there was a certain incident with a kangaroo. And
as for my experience with her as the sponsor of Aquilae, I am so proud to have had that experience.
Mrs. Brockman will live in my memory as a treasured, integral part of my high school experience.”
