“High school is a balancing act. With the constant workload from classes and clubs, it can be an
emotional rollercoaster. If something has stayed the same in these four years of mayhem, it is my love
for Dr. LaFave and his involvement in my life as my sponsor, teacher, and mentor. I first met him in
2008 when I took part in KF’s annual Culture Shock show organized by the Pakistani-Indian Student
Association. I was inspired by his cheerful personality and undying dedication towards his club. His
strong support for cultural awareness and the community is inspiring and enlightening. After two years
of membership in his club, I had the opportunity to learn physics from him, a subject I was not looking
forward to. Science is just not my cup of tea, but Dr. LaFave pushed me to face the challenges that
came before me rather than avoiding them. Thank you, Dr. LaFave, for being such an important role
model in my life and sharing your love for culture and knowledge with me.”
