“Each day, I spend two math class periods with Mr. Rice, and every day his abounding intelligence
kindles my flirtations with Math. His explanations of the “why” and of the “what” provided me with a
whole new perspective and understanding of his lessons. There’s also no way we could let Pi Day pass
without properly celebrating the fun Pi Day festivities! Mr. Rice’s classes have revived my passion for
math, and I look forward to these class periods every day. His class is by no means one in which I was
handed everything wrapped in a pretty gift bow, but instead I found myself with both the freedom and the
responsibility to take care of my own work. He sacrifices his own convenience for his consideration for
his students’ unforeseen obstacles in their schedules, so he established a lenient homework schedule
that often left him with 900+ DyKnow slides of homework to grade on quiz days. Best of all, Mr. Rice
treats his students as competent adults. Thank you, Mr. Rice, for all that you have taught me.”
