Kill slowly
This is quite a grotesque game however favourably it appears on the existential
level. It can also be a game of points. It amplifies the imagination. We play in
pairs, but the amount of people playing is unlimited; if there are many players you
can change partners after every bout / round. Materials: newspapers or magazines
(at least one copy, but this can also be only one page).
The object of the game is to lead death to your partner using as the basis the
facts/words from the newspaper titles (the units of the narration). You should
build a logical sequence of events leading to the death of your partner. The
person, who constructs the longest narrative sequence (consisting of the largest
quantity of units) wins. Every unit of the narrative draft yields 1 point. One title /
one word can be the basis of only one unit in the sequence (e.g. “toxic” - olives
which you ate contained the toxic conservatives”- 1 word, 1 point). If both players
use the same word in a similar context, both lose 1 point.
You should establish a time limit for the creation of the narration, e.g. 5-10 minutes.
After adding up the points you can start a new game. You may use a different
newspaper, or restrict the choice to one page (to make the game more difficult).
