It Happened Tomorrow
One person, who knows the rules, leads the game but doesn’t take part in the
game. The leader chooses two competing players who don’t know the complete
set of rules of the game.
The leader chooses the first page from a local daily (Wyborcza, New York Times
etc.) from an actual day and picks one, the most important article. Each player
has to repeat the contents of the article to two chosen children less than 6
years of age. (the children have to be unable to read). The players can’t use any
notes or recordings during the description process. The message is passed on
through an oral narrative; only make sure that the persons receiving the story
make no notes during the listening part of the story.
Each child has to repeat the part they have listened to, which had been chosen
by the adult. The adult who receives the message should repeat it to the next
child. In this way four children and five adults take part in the process of sending
two messages from two articles. The message has to be written down again
by the last player as an article as he receives it from the last child. The game
continues during the day and all the messages have to be passed on that same
day. Teams are constructed gradually by choosing new players for the next parts
of the game. The incoming participants should be convinced that the point of the
game is to remain as faithful to the original, that is reality, as possible.
The winners are the team whose final article is the furthest from the original story.
