The Manor of Lackham Vol 3 : The Montagu family
which shows the
figures of Thomas Montagu and his wife Agnes (Dudley), and a
shield in each of the four corners. The male figure is
bareheaded, with long flowing hair and wears a large cloak and
gown edged with fur; the lady is habited in a tight-fitting gown
and wears a pedimental headdress 25
It is noted that the lower right shield is now missing, but the heraldry
shown in those remaining is interesting. Thomas’s arms are not those now
used and Agnes’ show her arms with her husband’s
