Tuneable quantum dots connected to leads are still to be realised in material<br />

systems with substantial Rashba effect (e.g. InGaAs). However, the steady<br />

progress in the field of nanotechnology suggests that this goal might be reached<br />

in the near future. In such systems, the interwoven nature of eigenstates, being<br />

hybrids of spin <strong>and</strong> <strong>orbit</strong>al degree of freedom, will open an appealing perspective<br />

on measuring how the transport <strong>and</strong> dephasing properties of quantum dots change<br />

when the Hilbertspace cannot be separated into two subsystems.<br />
