With a normal stamp for comparison. [The ACSC states "Only one sheet has been recorded...it is possible that it is a rejected trial colour inadvertently included amongst normal sheets". Our vendor advises that the original find was only a pane of 50] 500 55 V A A1 Lot 55 1978-80 Birds 22c Kingfisher marginal example from the base of the sheet with an under-inked Black Printing ('AUSTRALIA 22c' & Bird's Head & Shoulders) in the margin, tied to a small piece by 'EAGLE FARM/QLD-AUST' cds that is apparently over the printing in the margin. Weird, and unlisted in the ACSC. [Offered with no reserve] 500
Jun 13, 2009 Prestige Philately - Auction No 145 Page: 27 COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA - Decimal Issues (continued) Lot Type Grading Description Est $A Lot 56 56 ** A/A- 1970 Qantas 30c with Two Colour Shifts (Black 1mm to the Left & Green 1mm to the Right) complete gutter strip of 20 (2x10) with the Colour Bars at the Top, all 10 right-hand units also with a faint Reversed Image of the Aeroplane on the Gold Band, two units affected by minor tonespots on the reverse, unmounted. With a normal gutter block for comparison. Unlisted in the ACSC. [A block of 4 sold recently for $299 at auction] 1,250 Bids below 75% of the estimates are routinely ignored.
