Cover/Change colour/War tax" at upper-left, a few very minor blemishes, Cat $500 for each value but<br />

1938-49 Robes Thick Paper 5/- lake & 10/- purple tied to plain registered airmail cover to England by<br />

very fine 'REGISTERED BRISBANE/130P 1AP38/QUEENSLAND' cds, superb italic 'First Day Cover'<br />

cachet at upper-left & Queensland Stamp Mart cachet on the flap, Cat $400 (for the 5/-) & $600 for the<br />

10/- but no price given for the two values on the one cover. NB: the Pound was issued on 1/11/1938.<br />

[A similar cover sold for $834 at our auction of 1/9/2007]<br />

78 C A- - £1 dull blue exceptionally centred (rarely seen on this issue) marginal example from the bottom of<br />

the sheet tied to registered airmail Smyth generic First Day Cover to New Jersey by<br />

'REGISTERED/1130A 1NO38/BRISBANE' cds (a very fine strike below), endorsed "EXPRESS" in blue<br />

& "Australia-Hong Kong-USA", transit backstamps of Hong Kong & Hawaii, American 'REGISTERED'<br />

handstamp in purple on the face, Cat $2500. [A most unusual "Clipper" cover]<br />

1938-49 Robes Thin Paper 5/- lake tied to plain cover by an indistinct partial NSW cds, typed "First<br />

Day Of Issue" at upper-left, a bit soiled. Offered "as is" & with no reserve. [The ACSC doesn't list<br />

FDCs & states only "The earliest recorded date is 27 January 1948". <strong>No</strong> photograph]<br />

superb 'GPO SYDNEY 130/9A 17NO48/NSW-AUST' cds with another strike alongside BW #215y,<br />

characteristic 'FIRST DAY COVER' h/s in violet, minor toning around the stamp, Cat $7500. [The<br />

ACSC states "At least two first day covers exist on PMG's Department envelopes cancelled at the<br />

Sydney GPO" but also states "Two first day covers dated 17 <strong>No</strong>vember 1948 at Sydney GPO are<br />

recorded"]<br />
