Environmental procedure EP10.2 Environmental Specialist – Rehabilitation & Water / BMC Environmental Specialist Site Environmental Co-ordinator / BMC Environmental Officer Property Landcare Specialist MRU Managers All personnel and contractors including NPWS, if rare or endangered species or habitat is encountered. Include vegetation corridors in the mining and rehabilitation plans. • Organise for identification and marking of habitat trees ahead of mining. • Co-ordinate annual flora & fauna surveys. • Facilitate the GDP Process (not applicable at BMC). • Coordinate the collection of seed from areas to be cleared where appropriate trees are identified. • Organise for the salvage and use of timber for habitat as required. • Coordinate rehabilitation • Organise pre-clearance surveys as required. • Coordinate the relocation of fauna as required. • Investigate reports of disturbance of threatened flora or fauna. • Coordinate rehabilitation maintenance • Maintain the GIS database. • Undertake annual weed survey within the mining lease. • Undertake feral animal eradication within the mining lease as required. • Undertake annual weed survey outside of the mining lease. • Undertake feral animal eradication outside of the mining lease as required. • Ensure all staff and contractors receive tool box talks providing an understanding of flora and fauna management • Report the sighting of any suspected rare or endangered species to the Site Environmental Co-ordinator/Officer. • Report sightings of feral animals within the mining lease to the Environmental Co-ordinator or outside to mining lease to the Property Landcare Specialist or BMC Environmental Specialist at Bengalla. 6.
