'Styled for the Theatre Display Units
Something New in Merchandising
MILWAUKEE—A line of merchandising
equipment "styled for the theatre" and built
so that any number of the individual units
can be assembled into a single, compact, uniform
display has been put on the market by
Supurdisplay, Inc., of Milwaukee.
Sectional construction makes each dispenser
a unit complete in itself, with its own
canopy and background. It thus can be
adapted to any theatre, large or small. Units
available are:
1. A popcorn warm.er, said to incorporate
a new heating principle that keeps the contents
fresh and warm. Across the entire
front is a huge bulk display of com. A special
area of bouncing kernels provides animation
and an illusion of popping. The serving
door is stainless steel.
2. A candy case which includes individual
plastic trays for simplicity of filling and inventory:
a rotating plastic display to activate
the sale of featured merchandise: individual
shelf lighting; an air system that circulates
the air inside the cabinet 1% times a minute,
and, if desired, refrigeration for the
candy case.
3. A three-drink bulk beverage dispenser
that delivers 450 drinks an hour, chilled to a
temperature of not more than 38 degreees.
Offering three drinks, Orange Crush, Coca-
Cola and root beer, it is entirely self-contained
two prizes each month, one for out-of-town
Shortage of Gas Closes
Ohio-Ontario Theatres
CLEVELAND — Gas - heated theatres in
parts of Ohio and Ontario were forced to
close their doors temporarily last week as the
cold spell reduced the supply of natural gas
to a dangerously low point.
In Columbus, the Ohio FMel and Gas Co.,
which serves half of Ohio, asked gas-heated
theatres, halls, recreation and drinking establishments
and schools and churches to close
for the duration of the emergency. Among
the theatres known to have closed were the
Roxy in Canfield and A. D. Curfman's State
in Westerville.
In Toronto, the Ontario provincial government
ordered the closing of all gas-heated
theatres and schools in an area stretching
from Niagara to Windsor. It was estimated
about 30 theatres would be affected.
Industrial plants on both sides of the border
were forced to close because of the
emergency.
