'Bride' Still Draws
Kansas City Money
KANSAS CITY—Pleasant fall weather continued
to lure potential theatregoers away
from first run boxoffices, and trade generally
was off. Moved to the Esquire after four
weeks at the Orpheum. "I Was a Male War
Bride" continued to draw heavily and chalked
up 120 per cent. "Red Light" and "Mississippi
Rhythm," dualed at the Roxy, gave the theatre
its best gross in recent months. "Quartet"
still was pulling well at the outlying Kimo.
Screeno Is Ruled Illegai
At Page in Shenandoah
SHENANDOAH. IOWA — County Attorney
Everett McFarland has notified Glenn Deeter,
manager of the Page Theatre here, that
Screeno is illegal. Screeno, a modified form
of bingo, has been a Wednesday night drawing
and other games of chance have also been
canceled.
