Goldenson Gives Check For Research to UCPA From Eastern Edition NEW YORK—Leonard H. Goldenson, president of the United Cerebral Palsy Ass'n and also president of United Paramount Theatres, has given a check for $30,000 to the newly formed UCPA research council. The money was raised during the first annual campaign last May. The council, under the chairmanship of Dr. Sidney Farber, professor of pathology at Harvard Medical school, plans to "establish an institute to meet in the near future to assemble all know'n, relevant information in order to better determine the needs for specific research projects and to stimulate interest in investigation in this field." It estimated that $1,000,000 will be needed for an effective research attack on the problem of cerebral palsy. The first anniversary meeting of the UCPA began Saturday (4) at the Hotel Statler here and continued the following day. Fire Destroys Film LINNEVILLE. ALA.—Fire in the projection booth of the Linneville Theatre here destroyed a roll of film. The theatre was evacuated during the blaze but no one was injured.
