Particulars of Nepal Telecom’s Requirements
1 General
Nepal Telecom (NT) is the largest telecomm operator in Nepal with an
active subscriber base above 2.5 Million GSM subscriber. This huge
customer base creates a unique market opportunity for Nepal Telecom
to introduce new and innovative services to its mobile subscribers in a
shared opportunity situation, whereby both the Nepal Telecom and the
end user both would get benefited.

With the advance of network technology, mobile phones have changed
from an expensive communication tool into a popular communication
tool and even an amusement tool. Various data services and value
added services for mobile phones, including SMS,USSD, MMS,
WAP, download, and streaming, emerge one by one. Since mobile
networks are becoming increasingly complex, only few users can
correctly set parameters for a certain service.
To ensure that various data and value added services can be easily
used, NT wants to introduce Over the air interface (OTA) that shall set
parameters of mobile phones. It shall provide necessary parameters for
terminals accessing a network service such as connection information
and application information. It shall help ordinary users to
conveniently use services and applications.
NT intends to provide this service with the following intentions in
view
• To continue as the pioneer in installing state of the art cellular
services for the loyal customers
• To create high end retention value in current customer base &
attract new ones.
• Provide this service for subscribers of all classes as much as
possible with new & interactive service features
NT wishes to implement a complete solution for OTA Provision
Service and self care services to its Customer.
1.1 Scope
The scope of work under his specification includes the following
1.1.1 Supply and delivery of hardware and software of the proposed Over
The Air Platform System
1.1.2 Installation, testing and commissioning of the offered OTA
Platform system
The installation and commissioning of the complete new hardware and
software shall be carried out without disturbance/damage to the service
in operation.
