Certificate III (Painting & Decorating): students<br />

receive advanced training in painting <strong>and</strong><br />

decorating. Major studies include: h<strong>and</strong> tool skills,<br />

scaffolding, use of power tools, occupational<br />

health <strong>and</strong> safety, plan <strong>and</strong> document<br />

interpretation, paint application skills, paint types.<br />

Certificate III (Joinery/Shopfitting/Stairbuilding):<br />

apprentices in joinery are involved in planning <strong>and</strong><br />

construction of off-site components used in the<br />

building industry including doors, windows<br />

cupboards <strong>and</strong> stairs. Skill development covers<br />

preparation of plans, cutting schedules <strong>and</strong> setout<br />

requirements for all aspects of trade.<br />

Certificate II: suitable for people interested in<br />

gaining an apprenticeship or traineeship in the<br />

building industry. This training is the equivalent of<br />

the first two years of part-time apprenticeship<br />
