<strong>Course</strong> overview<br />

This program gives graduates the opportunity of<br />

participating in the exciting new field of electronic<br />

commerce. It would serve the needs of those<br />

wishing to pursue a multimedia-oriented career,<br />

particularly related to the production <strong>and</strong> design of<br />

multimedia applications in their respective chosen<br />

discipline, as expressed by the co-major.<br />

Graduates will provide their future employers with<br />

comprehensive skills in the principles <strong>and</strong> practice<br />

of marketing as they are applied in a multimedia<br />

environment, with a solid grounding in the analysis<br />

<strong>and</strong> modelling of market conditions.<br />

Major studies<br />

Design for multimedia, the Internet <strong>and</strong> WWW, the<br />

marketing concept, quantative analysis, market<br />

behaviour, electronic marketing, 3D animation <strong>and</strong><br />

special effects, business forecasting, multimedia<br />

systems, business demography, eBusiness,<br />

eCustomer relationship management, eCommerce<br />

strategy.<br />

yourself – start your own business; developing CD-<br />

ROM based <strong>and</strong> World Wide Web applications;<br />

developing special effects for the film <strong>and</strong><br />

television industry; managing company computing<br />

of specialists, such as designers, audio<br />

engineerings <strong>and</strong> film producers; developing mass<br />

<strong>Course</strong> overview<br />

This course combines computing <strong>and</strong> media<br />

studies subjects to address the practice <strong>and</strong> theory<br />

of producing interactive multimedia products both<br />

in terms of conceptualisation <strong>and</strong> content<br />

development <strong>and</strong> delivery. It emphasises the<br />

importance of programming (through its computing<br />

subjects) as well as the effective development of<br />

content appropriate to client needs (through its<br />

Media/writing subjects). Students will develop a<br />

range of practical skills necessary for the<br />

development of multimedia materials, such as<br />

programming, scripting <strong>and</strong> project management,<br />

as well as critical <strong>and</strong> cultural theory <strong>and</strong> criteria<br />

for analysing, utilising <strong>and</strong> creating effective<br />

multimedia <strong>and</strong> online deliveries.<br />

to media, literature <strong>and</strong> film, interactive multimedia<br />

technologies development, human computer<br />

interaction, popular culture<br />

Career opportunities<br />

This degree will prepare graduates for careers in<br />

any industry which has a dem<strong>and</strong> for the<br />

development of multimedia materials for uses<br />

ranging from training to promotion. Career<br />

opportunities include entry level interactive<br />

multimedia development, on line publishing for<br />

small businesses, <strong>and</strong> desktop publishing.<br />
