wondering whether their children would
return from school or not. If any explosion
was heard, women got worried that either
husband or children were affected.
Especially, the women of Chitwan shared
that the incident of Bandermude (Bomb
blast in a bus near a place called
Bandermude) was unforgettable moment
of life. They felt terror even today to get
inside the bus.
"After the incident of Badarmude, we were
scared to travel by buses thinking that the bomb
might explode again or we might be
caught in ambush".

One of the participants of case study who
lost her husband and son-in-law in
Bandermude incident (Bomb blast in a bus
near a place called Bandermude) from
Chitwan shared her feelings in a very
emotional way.
“Sangai marne sangai bachne
Daya pani baya pani
Aghi pani pachi pani
Sukhama pani dukhama pani
Sath dine
Bitda kasto bhayo hola.”
"We had promised to live and die together;
he was everywhere left and right. He was
with me everywhere. He was with me in
both my joys and sorrows. How might I
have felt to loose someone who was with
me together in each and every movement of
my life"?
In the case studies, feelings of revenge were
reported due to violent incidents of armed
conflict. According to a participant of a case
study in Makwanpur, her husband was taken
by activists of the Maoist party for
questioning but later she heard that he was
killed by them. She has not received the
death body yet due to which she is very upset
and always think about taking revenge on
the person who killed her husband.
"Kaiti lai katna nahune India ma satna nahune
(He is useless, neither can we exchange him
in India nor can we finish him for good)", "I
would have cut him into two pieces if law
permitted. I would have liked to see his
wife and children facing greater problem
than what we are facing now."
Mostly the participants from Sarlahi and
Mahottari shared tension that remained
between the people who migrated from hill
areas (pahadi) and the local residents of the
Terai (Madhesis). Women shared that they
had fear of Madhesi people that they might
attack them. Therefore they are scared even
to go to the district headquarter because of
the majority of Madhesis are living in the
headquarter. The situation explained by
participants was terrible in terms of security
and stability. Women were regularly raped
and killed by unknown groups, due to
