Limitations
The study was based on qualitative
data collection through Focus
Group Discussions, Key Informant
Interviews, Case studies and Free-listings.
The study intended to provide a
preliminary insight into the nature of
psychosocial problems experienced by
women and the risk and protective factors
associated with these problems. Therefore,
the intensity of psychosocial problems
could not be measured from this approach.
Quantitative instruments might be
developed on the basis of these qualitative
findings and it will further measure the level
of psychosocial problems.
are likely more appropriate to further
confirm the contextual factors that threaten
women’s psychosocial wellbeing.
The research was concentrated in the
Churia range of Nepal which mostly lies in
the northern part of the Terai and less
effected by new conflicts that have emerged
in the Terai since the end of the Maoist
insurgency. Thus the detailed situation of
women affected by currently emerged
conflict could not be identified. Further
research is required to understand the
situation of women in those areas.
The instruments were developed according
to study objectives through the literature
review and finalized after pre-testing. Indepth
information was not explored in terms
of exploring the disempowering factors
related to rituals, traditions and social
culture. Longer term ethnographic methods
