Outcome 1
Karrinyup Regional Centre is developed as a community hub or
heart, with a mix of uses that provide opportunities for people to
live, work, socialise and recreate within their Local Area.
Outcome 2
A strong sense of community is developed through provision of
entertainment and evening amenities such as cafes and
restaurants that provide places to socialise and community
activities and events that enable everyone to be involved.
Outcome 3
Recreation and leisure facilities and community social events
and activities support enhanced lifestyle choices for all sectors
of the community.
Outcome 4
The strong ‘family’ sense of the area is built on, as people are
welcome to become involved in community activities and
groups and public spaces remain safe and welcoming.
• Examine employment potential of Main Street concept implementation
around Karrinyup Regional Centre
• Work with Karrinyup Regional Centre owners to create a masterplan for
the area to address changing environmental and social needs
• The Karrinyup Community and Recreation Centre is promoted within
the Local Area
• Promote community events occuring within the Local Area
• Ensure any new/redevelopment of Karrinyup Regional Centre considers
evening entertainment actitvities when planning for different landuses
• Ensure residents are aware of existing community services and
activities available
• Provide adequate opportunity for changing recreation needs and
community services through implementation of the Seniors Plan
• Provide adequate opportunity for Youth to be involved in community
activities through the Youth Development Plan
• Provide a well-distributed network of seats to encourage more people to
socialise at Lake Gwelup reserve
• Ensure possibility for passive surveilance in surrounding areas though
review of Streetscape Policy
• Ensure the Local Area is aware of the City’s Community Safety
messages
• Continue the Adopt-A-Park volunteers program to encourage local
residents to take a stewardship role over their local parks and reserves
