imported African <strong>sandalwood</strong> has partly eroded market<br />
confidence <strong>in</strong> <strong>sandalwood</strong> products orig<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g<br />
from India. African <strong>sandalwood</strong> is, however, expected<br />
to rema<strong>in</strong> part of <strong>the</strong> global resource <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> next<br />
5–10 years (McK<strong>in</strong>nell 2008). Although <strong>the</strong>re is<br />
research <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> domesticat<strong>in</strong>g and plant<strong>in</strong>g this<br />
species (Mwang’<strong>in</strong>go et al. 2004; Teklehaimanot et<br />
al. 2004; Mwang’<strong>in</strong>go et al. 2005; Mwang’<strong>in</strong>go et al.<br />
2007), it is unclear whe<strong>the</strong>r plantations are currently<br />
be<strong>in</strong>g established.<br />
