Commitments and contingencies Capital commitments Capital expenditure contracted for as at the end of the reporting period but not recognised in the financial statements are as follows: Group 2012 2011 US$’000 US$’000 Capital commitments in respect of property, plant and equipment 22,397 – Operating lease commitments as lessee The Group leases certain properties under lease agreements which expire at various dates till 2020. Rental expenses were US$3,315,000 and US$3,007,000 for the years ended 31 December 2012 and 2011 respectively.
