COMMON RETURN (Com)
Must be connected to the common
return for the inputs. On a Isolated
BoB that is the INPUT GND or INPUT
COM. On non-isolated (inputs go
stright through to PC parallel port) then
this is connected to PC Ground
Common Return (shown as PCGND on card) is needed on all installs. It’s connection
point depends on what ground the inputs are connected to. On some systems (powered
and isolated BoB’s) the Common Return is NOT PC Ground (or PCGND as stenciled on
the LCTHC module). [ This name will be changed on the next release] See the different
sections for hooking up the different types of connections. ONLY if the input connection
is directly to the PC parallel port OR the BoB input is NOT isolated from the PC port do
you use PCGND as the Common Return.
For installs that do not have a BoB with opto isolator input OR a pull up resistor on each
input of the BoB you must furnish a source of +5 that shares the same connection as the
PC GND pin. The PC power supply has +5 and PC Ground on all of it’s power pins that
connect drives to the PC power supply (internally). You can buy cables that will let you
tap into the PC power wires to get the need +5.
