1. Retail Customers<br />
GSWSA provides retail water <strong>and</strong> wastewater service to over 73,000 customers. Each<br />
customer is designated according to residential equivalent units or REU’s. Based on<br />
consumption studies, GSWSA’s average residential customer uses 250 gallons of water<br />
per day. The following table lists the retail customer classes <strong>and</strong> the number of<br />
customers <strong>and</strong> REU’s in each class.<br />
2. Bulk Customers<br />
The bulk customer designation is given to the class of customers within GSWSA’s retail<br />
service area that purchase water <strong>and</strong> wastewater services in large quantities <strong>and</strong>/or have<br />
an internal water or wastewater system further regulated by DHEC. The following tables<br />
list bulk customers <strong>and</strong> their peak quarter average daily consumption.<br />
