are now only occasionally used as a back up for effluent application from the recently<br />
upgraded plant.<br />
(6) Green Sea – Floyds L<strong>and</strong> Application Site<br />
This 66 acre site has about 5 acres of upl<strong>and</strong> that is used for the treatment <strong>and</strong> disposal of<br />
wastewater from the Green Sea-Floyds High School, Middle School, <strong>and</strong> surrounding<br />
community. The remainder of the site is wetl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> buffer.<br />
3. Support Facilities<br />
a. Office, Maintenance <strong>and</strong> Inventory Facilities<br />
<strong>Gr<strong>and</strong></strong> <strong>Str<strong>and</strong></strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sewer</strong> <strong>Authority</strong>’s Administrative Office is located just off<br />
Highway 544 on Jackson Bluff Road. The 23,000 sqft facility was completed in Winter<br />
of 2005 <strong>and</strong> houses GSWSA’s administrative, financial <strong>and</strong> customer services, <strong>and</strong><br />
engineering divisions.<br />
The former Administrative Office is now currently the Operation’s Office, which is<br />
located adjacent to the Administrative Office. This 10,000 sqft facility houses staff for<br />
the water <strong>and</strong> wastewater operations <strong>and</strong> maintenance, technical services, inspection,<br />
construction, <strong>and</strong> meter reading service departments.<br />
The Taps & Repairs staff is now housed within the former 5,000 sqft Construction<br />
Building, which is located behind the Operation’s Office.<br />
At the end of 2008, three new facilities were completed which included the Fleet Services<br />
Shop, Inventory Warehouse, <strong>and</strong> Pump Repair buildings. The Inventory Warehouse is<br />
comprised of 13,585 sqft <strong>and</strong> is designated for the storage of GSWSA’s inventory<br />
supplies <strong>and</strong> construction materials. The Fleet Services Shop is 6,154 sqft <strong>and</strong> is used for<br />
the maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair of all vehicles, equipments, trailers, <strong>and</strong> additional smaller<br />
equipment. The Pump Repair Building is a 2,375 facility in which the Wastewater<br />
Operations Department uses for the maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair work of existing pump<br />
stations.<br />
b. Fleet<br />
Having more than an 1,200 square mile service area served by 286 employees requires<br />
that GSWSA maintain a fleet of vehicles suited for the many varying activities required<br />
to provide quality water <strong>and</strong> wastewater services. GSWSA currently maintains a fleet of<br />
195 service vehicles.<br />
