• Provide services to its customers at affordable rates.<br />
• Efficiently use water <strong>and</strong> energy resources, promote economic vitality, <strong>and</strong><br />
engender overall community involvement.<br />
• Maintain <strong>and</strong> enhance ecological <strong>and</strong> community sustainability including<br />
pollution prevention, watershed <strong>and</strong> source water protection.<br />
• Exp<strong>and</strong> services to promote economic vitality, environmental enhancement <strong>and</strong><br />
public health.<br />
J. <strong>Water</strong> Resource Adequacy<br />
Core Strategies<br />
• Participate with Pee Dee Basin user’s group to ensure abundant supply of water<br />
available.<br />
• Manage operations to provide for long-term aquifer <strong>and</strong> surface water<br />
sustainability <strong>and</strong> replenishment.<br />
• Monitor treated effluent discharge levels to maintain acceptable limits <strong>and</strong><br />
implement l<strong>and</strong> application expansions to reduce effluent discharge into receiving<br />
water bodies.<br />
Short Term Strategies/Goals<br />
• Maintain awareness of all Local, State, <strong>and</strong> Federal regulations regarding water<br />
quality or quantity impacts to the Little Pee Dee River, Great Pee Dee River,<br />
Waccamaw River, Atlantic Intracoastal <strong>Water</strong>way as well as each well site’s<br />
predetermined area of influence.<br />
• Critically <strong>and</strong> carefully examine pending legislation regarding riparian rights.<br />
• Continue to encourage water conservation through the rate structure.<br />
• Promote conservation through public education.<br />
