Two important symbol genera for Turkey: Tulipa and Hyacinthus<br />

In Turkey, about twenty types of wild tulip and two types of wild hyacinth occur and they are symbols<br />
of the country of horticultural points of view. In this paper the wild Turkish represantative of these<br />
genera will be presented.<br />
The genus Tulipa L. in Turkey:<br />
In the genus Tulipa two main subdivisions are recognized, the Eriostemones Boiss. and the<br />
Leiostemones Boiss. In order to facilitate identification, it is arranged the 18 Turkish species of<br />
which 7 endemic under these two subdivision:<br />
Subdivision I: Eriostemones Boiss.: Perianth segments with hairy claws, the outer narrower and/or<br />
shorter. Filaments unequal, the inner ones longer, all swollen at base.<br />
