which may be recorded the information necessary when moving an object or<br />

specimen from store or indeed any other location. One copy of the slip should<br />

remain in the location normally occupied by the specimen, be it in store, or<br />

exhibition or elsewhere, and the other should accompany the specimen for the<br />

duration of its removal, except when on display. A useful practice is for the copy<br />

remaining in the storage location to be of a bright colour, making re-location<br />

easier.<br />

Certain minimum information should be recorded on a Removal Slip and this<br />

includes: the Specimen Identity Number, the location of the specimen, the reason<br />

for removal (e.g. 'research by A. W. A. Rushton, BGS' or 'Jurassic disvlay'), the<br />

name of the member of staff responsible for removing the specimen, and the date<br />

of removal.
