Market development within<br />
Europe<br />
Every country in the EU15 has<br />
installed grid connected wind<br />
capacity. Outside the EU 15 but still<br />
in the <strong>European</strong> geotraphical area,<br />
markets exist in Norway and<br />
Switzerland in Western Europe, and<br />
in Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Czech<br />
Republic, Russia, Hungary, Estonia,<br />
Romania and Turkey in Central and<br />
Eastern Europe.<br />
<strong>European</strong> Union electricity consumption<br />
in 2002 amounted to 2,533 TWh. By<br />
December 2002, sufficient wind capacity<br />
was installed to provide approximately<br />
2% of this electricity consumption, or<br />
approximately 50 TWh.<br />
