iN iTS SETTiNG<br />
2011 saw the creation <strong>of</strong> IFSTTAR.<br />
It was there<strong>for</strong>e extremely eventful <strong>for</strong> the Institute, as can be judged from this section which<br />
presents IFSTTAR in its setting.<br />
The year was marked by three particularly emblematic features: one is IFSTTAR’s participation in<br />
the Future Investments Programme <strong>and</strong> the other two are the outcome <strong>of</strong> the merger between the<br />
<strong>for</strong>mer INRETS <strong>and</strong> the <strong>for</strong>mer LCPC, i.e. the creation <strong>of</strong> a new scientific strategy <strong>and</strong> the<br />
development <strong>of</strong> a projewct <strong>for</strong> the Institute, “Imagine IFSTTAR”.<br />
The Institute’s partnerships <strong>and</strong> collaborative activities have increased <strong>and</strong> been consolidated at<br />
regional, national <strong>and</strong> international levels.<br />
In 2011, we can thus mention participation in 17 Future Investment Projects at IFSTTAR’s various<br />
sites, involvement in 61 European projects, the defence <strong>of</strong> 74 doctoral theses <strong>and</strong> 7 accreditations<br />
to supervise research (HDR), the renewal <strong>of</strong> the Institute’s ISO 9001 certification <strong>for</strong> its quality<br />
assurance system, 23 awards <strong>for</strong> its researchers, participation in 11 new projects in the framework<br />
<strong>of</strong> the 2011 call <strong>for</strong> proposals <strong>for</strong> the 7th FPRD...<br />
