<strong>and</strong> appraising the greenhouse gas emissions <strong>and</strong> pollutants generated by the<br />

<strong>transport</strong> sector.<br />

LTE<br />

TRANSECO : conducting a survey <strong>of</strong> current practice with regard to including<br />

natural habitats in the socioeconomic appraisal <strong>of</strong> <strong>transport</strong> schemes <strong>and</strong><br />

beginning a process <strong>of</strong> reflection (theoretical <strong>and</strong> practical) on providing<br />

compensation <strong>for</strong> the environmental damage caused by such schemes.<br />

PESIMES : identifying the “sound equipment” used when investigating the<br />

perception <strong>of</strong> situations <strong>of</strong> exposure to multiple sources <strong>of</strong> road <strong>and</strong> rail noise,<br />

The VERONESE programme is the outcome <strong>of</strong> a request from the DRI in 2009 to<br />

respond to a recommendation from the Operational Committee <strong>of</strong> the Grenelle<br />

Environment Summit in its final report <strong>of</strong> July 2008 with regard, in particular, to<br />

“The central issue <strong>of</strong> optimizing the use <strong>of</strong> <strong>transport</strong><br />

infrastructure...”. This 4-year programme will end in 2012.<br />

ERTMS “European Rail Traffic Management System”: analysis <strong>of</strong><br />

Living lab train : building a plat<strong>for</strong>m <strong>for</strong> <strong>technology</strong> <strong>and</strong> observing the use <strong>of</strong><br />

on-board mobility assistance services.<br />

Optimizing energy consumption in the management <strong>of</strong> rail traffic: Developing<br />

methods <strong>for</strong> optimizing energy consumption that take account <strong>of</strong> both operating<br />

will then be tested <strong>and</strong> validated with simulators such as Open-Track.<br />

Numerical modelling <strong>of</strong> urban dynamics: A survey <strong>of</strong> the current state <strong>of</strong><br />

knowledge in the area <strong>of</strong> simulation plat<strong>for</strong>ms <strong>and</strong> models <strong>for</strong> studying the<br />

spatial <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong> present-day or future cities in relation to mobility issues.<br />

LEOST - GRETTIA<br />

Diag-Audio : considering the feasibility <strong>of</strong> a system <strong>for</strong> automatically detecting<br />

certain defects in rail components based on the “auditive monitoring”<br />

per<strong>for</strong>med by train driving crews.<br />

LEOST<br />

Radio logicielle : The goal is to use an OPNET discrete event simulator to simulate<br />

cooperative or non-cooperative wireless communications networks taking<br />

account <strong>of</strong> the specific features <strong>of</strong> systems <strong>and</strong> applications. The targets are<br />

communication applications <strong>for</strong> road safety in collaboration with the LIVIC<br />

unit (PLATA project), communications applications <strong>for</strong> railway maintenance<br />

<strong>and</strong> operation (the ANR-VTT project which is currently being set up) <strong>and</strong><br />

telecommunications control-comm<strong>and</strong> applications such as EURORADIO <strong>for</strong><br />

ERTMS in collaboration with ESTAS.<br />

LESCOT - LEPSIS - LIVIC - LTE<br />

Green driving: Green driving <strong>and</strong> the resources that are needed <strong>for</strong> its widest<br />

possible implementation. For this it is necessary to study behaviours <strong>and</strong><br />

identify their characteristics as well as to underst<strong>and</strong> how to help drivers save<br />

energy when driving.<br />

LICIT<br />

QUATTRO : French mirror project <strong>for</strong> a transnational Franco-Austrian<br />

collaborative project. The principal goal is to implement qualification<br />

procedures <strong>for</strong> traffic data <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ard (metric) tools <strong>for</strong> the qualitative<br />

qualification <strong>of</strong> traffic in<strong>for</strong>mation (in particular journey times, including<br />

multimodal aspects).<br />

LPC - CETE Lyon<br />

Risques cyclistes : This study sets out to analyze accidents involving cyclists<br />

in urban areas, identifying the different types <strong>of</strong> cyclist accident <strong>and</strong> where<br />

they occur (at intersections, on bends, on straight sections <strong>of</strong> road, etc.)<br />

<strong>and</strong> the other types <strong>of</strong> road users involved.<br />
