AND RECORDKEEPING FOR SMALL FARMERS (P)<br />
Intended for Agricultural Production majors and continuing<br />
education adults with interest in improving organic farming<br />
operations or making a transition to organic production<br />
methods. Covers the practical aspects <strong>of</strong> daily farm<br />
management. Students will summarize these 5 aspects into an<br />
integrated document for presentation at the final course <strong>of</strong><br />
PEPA, Programa Educativo para Pequenos Agricultores<br />
(Education Program for Young People in Agriculture). Formerly<br />
AGR 103. Not open to students who have completed AGR 103<br />

ANTHROPOLOGY<br />
ANT-1 PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY (G)<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers a survey <strong>of</strong> the evolution <strong>of</strong> mankind. It is<br />
designed to provide an introduction to the theory, principles<br />
and methodology employed to comprehend the process <strong>of</strong><br />
evolution by emphasizing a bio-cultural approach to the<br />
discipline in order to understand the nature <strong>of</strong> our physical and<br />
cultural transformations. As such, it is a course that discusses<br />
the field <strong>of</strong> genetics and primate studies to analyze the origin <strong>of</strong><br />
many <strong>of</strong> our biological and social characteristics. It then<br />
overviews the data pertaining to the environmental factors that<br />
forced our ancestors to produce culture and concludes by<br />
analyzing the paleoanthropological evidence that supports the<br />

marriage and the family, kinship, political organization, religion,<br />
the arts, and culture change. Methodology, concepts, and<br />
theories will be presented in the development <strong>of</strong> an<br />

A survey <strong>of</strong> the origin and development <strong>of</strong> the cultures <strong>of</strong><br />
Mesoamerica (Central and Southern Mexico, Guatemala,<br />
Belize, El Salvador and parts <strong>of</strong> Honduras and Nicaragua) and<br />
the Chichimec and Greater Chichimec areas (Northern Mexico<br />
and the Southwest U.S.A.), also known as "Oasis America."<br />
The course will encompass prehistoric and historic periods,<br />
beginning with the first settlers to the present indigenous<br />
