Course provides an introduction to the theories and methods <strong>of</strong><br />
effective tutoring, including interviewing, identification <strong>of</strong><br />
learning problems, the study and development <strong>of</strong> effective<br />
communication techniques, and the use <strong>of</strong> learning theories<br />
and methods <strong>of</strong> effective individualized and group instruction.<br />
Opportunities will be provided for evaluation <strong>of</strong> and experience<br />
in tutoring situations. The course is <strong>of</strong>fered on an open<br />
entry/open exit basis.<br />

Course provides tutoring through the Academic Learning<br />
Center's Tutorial Program. Course <strong>of</strong>fers opportunities for<br />
study skills assessment and development, individual and group<br />
instruction under peer tutors, and other assistance to help<br />
students fulfill their course requirements for a variety <strong>of</strong> college<br />

Examines the organizational structure, resources and uses <strong>of</strong><br />
the Internet. Includes exploration <strong>of</strong> visible and invisible Web<br />
resources, development <strong>of</strong> effective online research strategies,<br />
demonstration <strong>of</strong> information competency skills, electronic<br />
portfolio construction and publishing, designing information for<br />
the World Wide Web, ethical use <strong>of</strong> information and Internet<br />
resources, and exploration <strong>of</strong> emerging Internet technologies.<br />
Not open to students who have completed CSS-90 or LBT-90.<br />
